To my friends and neighbors,
There are moments that define our lives in Northport. For me, many of them are tied to Cow Harbor Day weekend. I remember the excitement of marching in the parade as a Cub Scout when I was a child, and later watching my own children experience that same magic.
This village isn’t just a place we live; it’s a part of who we are. It’s the morning light over the harbor, the familiar faces on Main Street, and the deep sense of community that holds us together. It is out of a profound love for this village and a steady belief in its future that I am officially announcing my candidacy for Mayor of the Village of Northport in the March 2026 election.

Deep Roots, Deeper Commitment
I’m not running for Mayor as a politician. I’m running as a neighbor, a father, and a lifelong Northporter whose family has been part of this community for generations. I grew up on these streets, graduated from Northport High School, and chose to build my life and raise my family here because I believe there is no better place to call home.
That personal connection has been the driving force behind my years of service to our community, most significantly as your Village Trustee. I didn’t get involved to seek higher office, but because I saw challenges that needed practical, hands-on solutions. I saw a need for leadership that listens first and acts decisively.
A Record of Action, Not Just Words
During my time as a Village Trustee, I have worked tirelessly to turn residents’ concerns into tangible results. My philosophy has always been simple: show up, do the work, and deliver for the people you serve.
- I have championed fairness for all residents and businesses in the village.
- I have sought out and secured more than $150,000 in grant funding with no matching funds required – savings that directly benefit our taxpayers.
- I was a staunch advocate for the LED lighting project, which has already saved residents tens of thousands of dollars in utility bills.
- I wrote policy to ensure our storm drains are cleaned regularly, establishing accountability and responsiveness in local services.
- I am currently working side by side with the mayor and spearheading the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program (LWRP) and Harbor Management Plan—initiatives that will bring viable solutions for cleaning our harbor and building resilient infrastructure.

These projects are being done the right way—through public RFPs that secure top-notch engineers and ensure transparency, not through backroom deals. That’s the standard I believe Northport deserves.
When it came time to approve the village budget, I have consistently been a voice for fiscal responsibility, ensuring our tax dollars are spent wisely on essential services like road repairs and park maintenance—while demanding transparency in every line item.
This isn’t just a list of accomplishments; it’s a track record of the kind of proactive, engaged leadership I believe Northport deserves in the mayor’s office.
A Vision for Northport’s Future
Serving as a Trustee has given me a clear view of both our village’s incredible strengths and the pressing challenges we face. We are at a crossroads. We can either shape our future with a clear vision or allow it to be dictated by inaction. I believe we must choose to be proactive.
As Mayor, my priorities will be a direct extension of the work I’ve already been doing:
- Championing a Vibrant Local Economy: Village Hall must be a true partner to our local businesses. This means actively seeking solutions for parking, promoting Northport as a destination, and ensuring Main Street remains the beating heart of our community.
- Preserving Our Unique Village Charm: Growth and progress are inevitable, but they must happen on our terms. I will ensure that any new development respects our history, protects our waterfront views, and enhances—rather than detracts from—the unique character of our neighborhoods.
- Delivering a Responsive and Transparent Government: My administration will operate on a simple principle: the doors to Village Hall are your doors. We will improve communication, actively seek resident input before decisions are made, and run a fiscally disciplined government that respects every taxpayer dollar.

This isn’t a time for politics as usual. It’s a time for proven, hands-on leadership that is ready to roll up its sleeves on day one. This campaign is not about me; it is about us. It is about the future of the village we all love. Over the coming months, I look forward to knocking on your doors, listening to your ideas, and earning your trust.
Let’s get to work, together.
Yours for Northport,
Dave Weber Jr.
